iPhone 4 does 720p HD video, iMovie
Posted on June 7, 2010 | No Comments
A backside-illuminated 5 megapixel sensor is about to grace the new iPhone's rear, equipped with an LED flash and 720p / 30fps video recording. Tap to focus will also be rolled out in the iPhone Quattro, and Steve Jobs is keen to impress on us all that although the megapixel count has grown, the quality of images has apparently improved. That's what they all say. The added functionality of iMovie won't come for free, however, with Apple asking a $4.99 tithe for granting access to its more sophisticated video editing options. This is moving things along, to be sure, but why is the upper limit of storage still 32GB? A more generous apportionment of memory would've gone very nicely indeed with that HD video mode.

AVSForum launches free iPhone App
Posted on June 2, 2010 | No CommentsAs HD geeks there aren't many things we enjoy more than a spirited debate on an online venue and for our interests none are matched by the great AVS Forum -- other than our very own comments of course. We've learned more from this single source than all others combined -- well maybe not if you include Wikipedia -- and often get into it pretty thick with other participants. So you can imagine our joy to learn we have a new way to call out those that are wrong while we're on the go without having to carry around a full laptop. Overall we have to say we find the app very useful and at free it sure is priced right.AVSForum launches free iPhone App originally appeared on Engadget HD on Wed, 02 Jun 2010 21:31:00 EST. Engadget HD Podcast 196 – 06.2.2010
Posted on June 2, 2010 | No Comments
No guests this week, but plenty of HD topics like our favorite HD sources, Apple's latest play in the living room, and Summer HD programming. We of course talk a little 3D including DirecTV's 3D preparations and ESPN 3D's expectations. TiVo seems to be the company we love to hate so we scratch our head trying to think of why Best Buy would want a TiVo interface on a TV and not a DVR. Finally we talk a little HD 101 and overscan and what might happen to our TVs if congress changes the telecom laws.
