PlayStation 3 in 3D impressions: almost, but not quite
Posted on June 16, 2010 | No CommentsThere are plenty of opinions to be had on 3D, and while many of the staff at Engadget could take it or leave it, this particular writer is a pretty firm fan of the concept. Notice the word "concept." 3D is hard to pull off well. We've all had to come to grips with the dimming effect of most 3D tech, due to the fact that we're only seeing about half the potential brightness of a display, and 3D gaming presents a whole different ream of problems. Follow after the break as we walk through some of our experiences with the PlayStation 3 in 3D and see if it can measure up to our hopes and dreams for a world with one extra dimension.Continue reading PlayStation 3 in 3D impressions: almost, but not quite

Xbox 360 3D gaming a reality with LG partnership
Posted on May 11, 2010 | No Commentsvar digg_url = 'http://digg.com/xbox/Xbox_360_3D_gaming_a_reality'; The image above is unmistakeable: 3D gaming on an Xbox 360 with the help of an LG 3D television. It's the details that we're sorting out from LG's Korean press release. From the looks of it, LG and Microsoft have entered into a memorandum of understanding to jointly market LG's new 3D telvisions along side 3D-capable Xbox 360 games in South Korea, then later expanding throughout the Asia Pacific region. If we're reading this correctly then it appears set to begin by bundling Xbox 360 3D games with LG 55/47LX9500 LED televisions sometime at the end of June. In other words, we're not seeing anything specific claiming new Xbox 360 hardware, just like we've seen on the PS3.Xbox 360 3D gaming a reality with LG partnership originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 11 May 2010 01:55:00 EST. Did you know you could use your new 3DTV for 3D PC gaming?
Posted on April 30, 2010 | No CommentsNot many 3DTVs have been sold yet, but if you are one of the select few to buy one, you're probably looking for content. Well one source that is already readily available is 3D PC gaming. There has been 3D PC gaming for some time and many games work even if they weren't ever designed to be in 3D -- for real too, not that fake 3D stuff. The 3D Vision Blog goes through all the options and what is required to get them going, so even if you aren't a gamer it'd probably be a good idea to head over and find out how to get more out of your new purchase. Which is at the minimum a game and a recent video card, and at the very most some buggy beta software.
