Bloomberg: Hulu coming to PlayStation network ’soon’
Posted on June 24, 2010 | No CommentsIt was just two weeks ago in the runup to E3 that Reuters spread rumors of Hulu coming to the Xbox 360 and the iPad as some sort of paid service, and now Bloomberg is adding to the chatter, saying that everyone's favorite video service is also in talks to become part of Sony's Playstation Network and appear on the PS3 "soon." As with the previous rumors, Hulu on PS3 is said to be a paid service, but nothing's actually confirmed yet. So is Hulu playing Microsoft, Sony and Apple against each other in a bid to collect the biggest exclusivity fee possible, or are we about to see an aggressive Netflix-style multiplatform rollout? We'll see.Bloomberg: Hulu coming to PlayStation network 'soon' originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 24 Jun 2010 22:17:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Hulu reportedly talking to CBS, Viacom about inclusion in Plus subscriber package
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No CommentsIt's Wednesday so that must mean... yes, it's time for another Hulu premium service "leak" to appear in MSM. The most recent rumor, reported by BusinessWeek, indicates the streaming video site is talking to CBS and Viacom about getting their properties on what will be called "Hulu Plus" and cost $9.95 a month and potentially offer subscribers more shows and more older episodes. Traffic dipped significantly after Viacom yanked The Daily Show and The Colbert Report from Hulu in April, we'll see if a share of that premium money is enough to lure them back, and if the long rumored service ever actually launches.Hulu reportedly talking to CBS, Viacom about inclusion in Plus subscriber package originally appeared on Engadget HD on Wed, 23 Jun 2010 18:47:00 EST. Popular TV shows disappearing from Netflix streaming queues? – Update: Fixed
Posted on June 11, 2010 | No CommentsAnd not just things that should go, like season 2 and on from Heroes. We're getting reports (and have noticed in our own queues) that things like 30 Rock, Lost, The Office, Prison Break, MI-5 and pretty much any other show we'd like to watch have dropped from available for streaming over Watch Instantly to coming soon or unknown. Searching the website intermittently showed them available, and then they disappeared completely -- including any options for Blu-ray and DVD rental -- which would appear to indicate this is just an extension of severe problems it's been experiencing since yesterday, reported by Hacking Netflix. The pessimists in the crowd have floated the possibility that licensing issues, potentially due to some premium Hulu service on the way, are the villains in this case of the vanishing videos. We're not so sure that's the case and have reached out to Netflix to find out what's going on, but any plans to check out Liz Lemon and the crew this afternoon are ruined -- you may have to actually get some work done.
Update: The @NetflixHelps twitter account has posted this is a "purely technical" issue that it's currently working to resolve so put your worries aside, explaining the sudden burst of productivity to your boss will be difficult enough.
Update 2: The same account now reports things have returned to normal, and a quick glance at our queue appears to confirm it. Consider the weekend begun.

Reuters: Hulu plans to expand to iPad, Xbox 360, offer subscription service
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No CommentsWe've already heard rumors of Hulu coming to the iPad and Xbox 360, and rumors of a subscription service, and it looks like those might now all be coming together. According to Reuters, two sources and "another with knowledge of the matter" say that Hulu will be rolling out to "multiple devices" in the next month or two -- only the iPad and Xbox 360 are mentioned by name -- and that it will indeed be offering a subscription service. As we had heard, the subscription service would apparently only be for older episodes of TV shows and other content -- you'd still be able to watch new episodes of shows for free -- and it sounds like it will apply to Hulu as a whole, not just those aforementioned devices. Not many more details that that, unfortunately, but this does certainly seem to be taking on a feeling of inevitability.Reuters: Hulu plans to expand to iPad, Xbox 360, offer subscription service originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 09 Jun 2010 12:22:00 EST.
